Betsy with Modest Couture by Elizabeth is at it again. Always creating, designing & making new vintage wedding gowns for the modern bride. We are so lucky to have the amazingly talented Betsy in our midst. Here are a couple of her most recent creations.

Jo – This gown was inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s character in the 1957 film “Funny Face”. Based on the original ballerina length Givenchy gown, Jo has layers and layers of soft, floating tulle. Modest Couture by Elizabeth’s ‘new-vintage’ version in silk dupioni keeps the bateau neckline that became Hepburn’s signature style. Shortened cap sleeves keep the dramatic look simple, yet classic. A true to period detail is the peek-a-boo trim hiding under the skirt. This gown can be fun & playful or dramatic & elegant depending on how the bride chooses to accessorize it.

Brigitte – One of the beautiful women of the early 1960’s was the French model, actress, singer Brigitte Bardo. She was sultry and sophisticated and drew attention everywhere she went. This updated classic embodies her sophistication with very little fuss. The early 1960’s slender column sheath dress with three-quarter length sleeves in ivory raw silk is as tempting as Bardo was. The dramatic neckline is bathed in heavy Swarvsky Aurora Borealis crystals.
